John J. Rooney

Amsterdam – John J. Rooney (Jay), 58, of Albany passed away suddenly on 12/1/16, Born in Albany on March 31, 1958 to Mary (Gerasia) Rooney and the late Hugh P. Rooney.

Jay worked as an RN II at St. Peter's Addiction Recovery Center.

Jay was a devoted son and brother.

In addition to his mother Jay is survived by three brothers and three sisters, Patrick (Bonnie) Rooney, Lea (Steve) Miller, Mary Beth (John) Barry, Mike (Heather) Rooney, Paul (Donna) Rooney, Michel (Mickey) Connell; 16 nieces and nephews - Jackie Robke, Kevin Barry, Maryann Spencer, Matthew and Michael Rooney, Casey DiGuiseppe, Brett and Cody Miller, Lena , RJ and Melissa Berghela, Bridget, Kelly, Shannon, Courtney and Alexis Rooney, 12 great-nieces and nephews- Kate and Jacob Spencer, Luke, Kate and Emma Robke, Jocelyn Vanwormer, Carly Miller, Dominick Berghela, Nicholas DiGuiseppe, Jack and Leo Barry and the late Archie Miller.

Jay is also survived by his beloved Irish Terrier, Donny.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 from 4:00pm –7:00pm at New Comer Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow starting at 7:00pm.
