LATHAM- John E. Ryan, 93, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
John was born in Troy, NY to the late John and Mary Ryan on June 7, 1924. John served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II, where he was wounded in the South Pacific and he received the Purple Heart. In 1959 John married the love of his life, Kathryn Ryan. They were married for 58 years and together they had three children. After his military service John went to work for the Colonie Police Department, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant.
John is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn, his children, Colleen Ryan, Kathleen (John) Slovic, and Jay (Cindy) Ryan, his grandchildren, Jaclyn, Megan, Sean, and Kaitlyn, and a host of family and friends.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189, on Friday, June 16, 2017 from 5:00-7:30pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet Shaker Rd, Latham, NY 12110, on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 11:30am. Burial will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY.
