John S. Holmes, Iii

GUILDERLAND-John "Jack" S. Holmes, III, 81 of Guilderland passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Albany Medical Center. Jack was born in Galveston, TX the son of the late John S. and Martha A. (Parsons) Holmes, Jr. He served in the US Coast Guard from 1952 to 1954 and later served in the US Coast Guard Reserves in Boston, MA. Jack was a contract administrator for General Electric in Schenectady. After his retirement, he worked as the office manager for NYS Federated Garden Club. Jack was an avid reader; and a Giants and Red Sox fan.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife Patricia (Musial) Holmes of Guilderland; his loving children Scott (Janet) Holmes of Tomball, TX, Leanne (Nick) Pappas of Fairport, Jeffrey (Cherish) Holmes of Clifton Park, Kathleen Menech of Amsterdam, Wendy (Gene) VanDyke of Schenectady; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brother Robert Holmes, his sister MaryAnne Holmes, and his "great" uncle Pete Parsons.
Calling hours will be held from 10 to 10:30 AM on Friday, August 23, 2013 at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumpter Ave., Guilderland with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 AM.
