NISKAYUNA, NY – John S. Wilson, 76, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Ellis Hospital after a long illness. Born in Watervliet, he was the son of the late Loretta and John Wilson, and was a resident of Niskayuna for 44 years. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army. John worked for the New York State Dept. of Civil Service for 35 years before retiring. He was a member and Executive Director of Executive Service Corps of TriCities and the Animal Protective Association of Schenectady where he also served as Treasurer. John enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading, country music and especially spending time with his family. John is the beloved husband of almost 50 years to Mary D. Wilson. He is the beloved father of Anne M. Petruff, John S. Wilson, James F. Wilson and the late Kevin M. Wilson. John is the cherished grandfather of Jessica and Jennifer Wilson. Also surviving are his sisters, Joan Aumand and Nancy Middlebrook, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 8:15 at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Clare's Church at 9:00 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, attention Tribute Gifts, Church Street Station, P.O. Box 780, New York, NY 10008-0780 in memory of John S. Wilson
