John Edward Schillinger Sr., 87, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, October 1, 2022 surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Born June 21, 1935, in Brooklyn NY, he was the son of the late Fred and Angela (Parente) Schillinger.
John honorably served our country as a solider in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Later, he started his own construction company, Brawny Construction in Guilderland NY. He enjoyed working in the outdoors and in his garage. John's appreciation for the outdoors extended into his love for animals, in particular fish and birds. In his spare time he raised and took care of many types of birds, and will be especially missed by his Amazon Parrot, Bonnie. John loved spending time with his family. In the summer, he and his wife would take trips to Florida and liked going on cruises. Playing cards on Saturday night was always something to look forward to, and also playing Skip-Bo with his wife Jean.
John is survived by his loving wife Jean of 68 years; children John (Sue) Schillinger Jr., Edward (Tracy) Schillinger, Diane (Dan) Corbett, and Cathy (George) Schillinger-Magony; many nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his two daughters, Patricia Hauf and Nancy Schillinger.
