BROADALBIN- John F. Sendzicki, 77, of Broadalbin, entered into eternal rest on Friday August 10, 2007 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam after a brief illness.
He was born on July 10, 1930 in Schenectady and was the son of the late Felix and Catherine Burke Sendzicki. John served in the US Air Force during the Korean War as a B29 tail gunner with the 375th and 380th bomb squadron. John graduated from Nott Terrace High School and was a Schenectady resident for many years. He moved to Broadalbin in 1987 where he enjoyed restoring his home and his hobby as a talented woodworker. He was active in Boys Scouts of America and a proud blood donor for over 40 years. John was a fire fighter with the City of Schenectady for 25 years, retiring as a Lieutenant. He was of Catholic faith.
John is the beloved husband of Carol A. Wilcox Sendzicki. He is the father of Jeffrey (Teri) Sendzicki of Niskayuna and Bonnie Sendzicki MD of North Bridgeton, ME. He is the brother of Virginia (John) Barhydt, Frank Sendzicki, and the late Paul Sendzicki. Grandfather of Brittany Sendzicki, Meghan Gleason and Simon Neufeld. Brother in law of William (Elizabeth) Borntraeger. Several nephews also survive.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and all the wonderful staff at St. Mary's Hospital and New York Oncology Hematology in Amsterdam. A very special thanks to Dr. Michael Sheridan and his staff for their many years of caring for John. Special thanks to the many friends and relatives for their comfort and caring support shown to John during his illness.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in Memorys Garden.
