John J. Shea
December 25, 1946 — October 11, 2018
ALBANY- John J. Shea, age 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 11, 2018 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn. He was born in Albany, the son of the late William and Clara (Herbst) Shea.
He was a US Army veteran, serving from 1966-68 in Vietnam. John was employed at Schaefer Brewery and retired from the federal government.
John was a laid back person and a jokester and was always there when we needed him. He enjoyed sketching, building model trains, war planes and tanks. He enjoyed attending his grandchildrens little league games and spending time with family. He was an avid Beach Boys fan.
He was predeceased by his wife, Gloria (Clark) Shea and his brother William Shea.
He is survived by his daughters: Stephanie Shea, Diana Shea (David Whitman) and Valerie Shea Romeo (David); his cherished grandchildren: Derek Whitman and Lacie Whitman of Watervliet; his sisters: Mary Steinbach and Margaret Kulzer. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank all of the medical staff that has treated John during the last 20 months.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
