John T. Humphrey, "Grampa John" a long time Niskayuna resident, passed away with his loving family by his side on March 15, 2012. It is with heavy hearts that the family of John shares the news of his sudden passing to all that knew him. A devoted and dedicated family man, John leaves behind his wife Judith Humphrey (nee: Raynor), children, Cheryl Lawyer, Joy Lawyer, Jamie Lawyer, Robin Lawyer, James Lawyer, Jr., Jennifer Humphrey-Jubb and son-in-law Jim Jubb. Grandchildren, Michelle, Regina & Gregg Jr., Mireau, Joseph Louis Wait, Jr., & Robert James Wait, Jessica & Dylan Hicks, and his most beloved cat, Buddy. John was born to the late Clayton & Helen Margaret Humphrey (nee: Milne) in San Antonio, Texas, October 3, 1940.
In his younger years, John was active in his community, building roads, sitting on various planning boards and spent much time with his local Elks Club. Retired from CDTA Grampa John enjoyed cooking magnificent meals and sharing his delightful fudge with family and friends. A devoted car racing fan, John shared many joyous stories from his "dirt racing days" as a flagman for many of the areas local tracks and Sunday's NASCAR won't be the same without the devoted Richard Petty racing fan. His family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the ICU at Ellis Hospital for their compassion to John while in their care.
