John T. Sheehan O D, 85, passed away Sunday March 1, 2009 at St. Peter's Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

John was born in the Bronx, NY, attended local schools and is a graduate of St. John's University and Columbia University where he earned his degree in Optometry. He served in the US Army during WW II, spending more than two years overseas in Europe. John was an Optometrist throughout upstate NY for more than 50 years. He enjoyed photography, model ship building and traveling overseas, but his real passion was his family. John was predeceased by his wife of more than 63 years Jean (Mulvey) Sheehan.

John is survived by his sons: Steven G. Sheehan of Groton, CT, Ralph J. (Arlene) Sheehan of Rexford, NY , Bruce W. (Peggy) Sheehan of Glenville, NY, John T. Sheehan of West Fulton, NY, Brian E. Sheehan of Hawaii and Kevin E. Sheehan of Rome, NY, grandchildren: Jessica, Megan, Hannah, Patrick, David, Katherine, Thomas, Michael, Kathleen and Christopher, great-grandson Tobben R. Curtis and five nieces and nephews.
