ALBANY - John Tommy Ward, 61, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, FL.
Tommy was born on March 26, 1951 in Bethel, Pitt County, No. Carolina and is the son of Herman Ward of Albany and the late Hattie Lee Williams Ward. He was a self-employed contractor and painter. He loved fishing, boxing, dancing, and traveling.
In addition to his father, Tommy is survived by his loving companion of 35 years, Sandra Myers; his loving daughters, Sonja M. Little of Mechanicville and Ebony K. Ward of Albany; his loving sisters, Lily Mae Ward, Frances Morales, Mary Ward, Debra Ward, and Elletha (Ward) Wood (Milton); his loving brothers, Jessie James Ward (Percy) and Michael Ward (Tonja); six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his siblings, Dorothy Jones-Ward, Donnie Ward, and Herman Ward Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 5 to 7 p.m.
