RENSSELAER - John W. Forbes, 91, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Glendale Nursing Home in Glenville.
John was born on March 16, 1923 in Syracuse and was the son of the late George and Lou Elizabeth (Blake) Forbes. He served his country proudly in the Coast Guard during WWII. He was a service supervisor for Honeywell in Albany for over 30 years before retiring. He enjoyed golfing, reading, camping and football.
John is survived by his loving daughter, Kathleen A. Roose; his cherished grandchildren, Tracey, Jody (Kimberly), John, and Chad; his cherished great granddaughters, Katelynn and Corinne; and his half-sister, Jane. He was predeceased by wife, Miriam Forbes and his brother, Robert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon Monday at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park. Interment will follow at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
A calling hour will be on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie.
