GUILDERLAND—John F. Weber, age 92, passed away to be with his Lord and Savior on September 18, 2021 at Albany Medical Center.
He was born in Medina, NY, the son of the late Herman and Josephine Weber. He was predeceased by his sister Helen Arnold.
After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving from 1949 to 1954 and was Honorably Discharged. He also served in the NY Army National Guard, retiring as a Major.
John was a volunteer fireman for 74 years in multiple communities, the last being Plotterkill Volunteer Fire Department in Princetown, NY.
He retired from the NYS Thruway Authority after 35 years of service as a Toll Collector.
He enjoyed traveling on the Norwegian Cruise Line, making crafts for Fern's flower arrangements, spending time outdoors in the yard and going for many many car rides.
John is survived by his loving wife Fern; children: Michael Weber, Penny Simmons, Michelle Barrett and Mark Weber; stepdaughter, Fern Weber; grandchildren: Michael Weber Jr. (Sarah), Rhianna Weber (Robert Bole), Jeremy Weber (Krystal West), Andrew Weber, Sarah Butler (John), Jonathan Weber, Justin Simmons, Sean Simmons (Amy), Stephanie Moss (Dustin), Erika Barrett, Tiffany Barrett, Mikayla Barrett, Gabby Barrett and Ryan Barrett; great grandchildren: Nicolas, Noah, Michael III, Shelby, Benjamin, Derrick, Jackson, Grace, Nathan, Aaron, Leo, Caleb, Colby, Camille, Caylie, Lucas, Hannah, Gage, Kyler and Joel.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend John's calling hours on Friday September 24, 2021 from 2 to 5 p.m. at
New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189. A service will follow at 5 p.m.
