John Winchell

SLINGERLANDS – John J. Winchell, 58, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2007, after a long illness. Born in Queens, NY he is the beloved son of Kathleen Winchell and the late James E. Winchell. Mr. Winchell was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He owned and operated the Winchell Insurance Agency in Albany for over thirty years. During that time he was awarded top honors in his field. John was an avid N.Y. Yankees fan. In addition to his mother, he is the loving brother of Kathleen (Gordon) Ladner of Birmingham, AL and Gloria Rose Rahman of Albany. He is the father of Scott C. and Helene D. Winchell, both of Carteret, NJ. He is the cherished uncle of Justin Ladner and the late Benjamin Ladner.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Madeleine Sophie Church, Guilderland. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of John J. Winchell.
