Jon M. Petrecky, 69, was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. Born in Albany, New York, he was the son of the late Michael and Rosalind (Adams) Petrecky. Jon is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Gail, his children, Yvonne, Jim (Sharalyn), and Kayla, and grandchildren, Alivya , Julia, Aidan, Angelina, Jack, Mason, Natalie, James, and Nicholas. He is also survived by his sisters, Carol Hildreth and Susan (Philip) Avellino, and his brother, Michael (Marcia) Petrecky, brothers-in-law Skip VanDenburg, Gary (Karen) VanDenburg, Chris (Lynn) VanDenburg, Scott (Paula) VanDenburg, and sister-in-law Connie Kennedy, former daughter in law Collette Petrecky, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Jon ran a successful business in excavation and site development. His family life was centered around drag racing, where his family was heavily involved as supporters of his racing operation. Jon built several race cars including his beloved 1992 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. His racing success included three track championships in Super Pro (electronic) at Lebanon Valley Dragway.
Jon is survived by many incredible friends including the Lebanon Valley racetrack family.
Visitation will be held Monday November 1st from 4pm-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie, NY. A memorial service will begin at 7pm.
Checkered flag attire is encouraged.
