Albany- Joseph Anthony "Joe Green" Iacabucci Sr., 83, passed away at home surrounded by his wife and children on July 16th, 2015 after a long illness. Born in Colonie, NY on May 19th, 1932 to the late Stephen and Marian (Normandin) Iacabucci. Joe was the beloved husband to his bride of 55 years, Dolores (Dickie).
Joe was graduated from Roessleville High School in 1950 and went on to a build a highly regarded heavy duty truck service and repair business, Green Garage (later known as Green Truck Supply Inc.). Joe worked round the clock, seven days a week to establish the business as one of the largest heavy duty repair, towing and machine shops in the 1960's and 70's having some of, if not the biggest, tow and recover vehicles in the area. Joe was well respected and known throughout the business community as someone who could "fix what could not be fixed" and as "doing the job right the first time". He was known and sought out by major fleets coast to coast to repair their vehicles. Joe dedicated his life to his business and worked long hours to the point where his young son, Joe Jr., asked "Mom, what ever happened to our father?"
The business evolved in later years to a parts and machine shop where Joe continued to work with his sons, Joe Jr. and Jeffrey, seven days a week until his death.
Direct and to the point, "Mean Joe Green," was a man of great knowledge and opinions. You always knew where you stood with Joe, as he did not mince words.
Joe enjoyed hunting, gardening, his tractors, looking at family photos and anything to do with history. He never stopped striving to learn, reading everything he could get his hands on. Joe was a fan of early NASCAR racing, one of the few things for which he would close the shop to travel south to enjoy with his family. One of his happiest memories was having his picture taken with some of the well known drivers back in the day. Joe was sharp dresser and was always ready for the camera. He also enjoyed long Sunday drives with his bride, no destination in sight, just enjoying her company, driving and talking.
Joe was highly respected and admired by his business associates and patrons. His vast knowledge often found him sought out by customers who would travel for miles to have Joe fix the "unfixable." He was a great source of information and guidance who will be sorely missed. While Joe was extremely proud of his many accomplishments as an authority in the trucking industry, his favorite role was that of "Grandpa."
Joe will forever be a presence in the minds and hearts of his family and will be greatly missed by family, friends, business associates and customers. He is survived by his wife, Dolores (Lorini), sons Joseph Jr. (Donna), Jeffrey, Timothy (Yvette) and his daughter, Suzanne Prezio (Alan). Joe was the doting and loving grandfather to Santino, Samantha and Victoria Iacabucci and Mary-Dolores (Maddie) and Alexander (AJ) Prezio. Joe is also survived by many nieces and nephews in addition to his brothers Salvadore (Ingrid), Stephen (Louise) and sister, Patricia, sister in law Virginia Lorini and Marilyn Frank. Joe was predeceased by his sister, Marianne in addition to his father in law and mother in law, Mary and Pasquale Lorini, as well as brother in law Eugene, Ronald and Anthony Lorini and sister in law Joyce Lorini.
