Joseph Anthony Kemmer, 84, formerly of Albany, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville. Joseph was born in Albany, on October 17, 1925 to the late Charles and Mary (Ahl) Kemmer. Joe enlisted in the United States Navy and was a WWII veteran. After his enlistment he began a long and successful career with the US Postal service, retiring in the mid 1980's. He was a former exalted ruler from the Bethlehem Elks Lodge. He loved to read, play golf, fishing, boating, sailing, taking trips to the local OTB and spending the summer at his beloved camp on Sacandaga Lake. Joe enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and all of his great grandchildren. In addition to his parents Joe is predeceased by his wife, Angeline Marie (Ferra) Kemmer.
Joseph is survived by his two daughters, Elizabeth Kemmer of San Antonio Tx. and Joanne (Daniel) Brunner of Castleton, NY. Joe is the brother of, Delores Davenport of Troy, NY; He is the beloved grandfather of; Jason Daniel (Penny) Brunner of Wesley Chapel, Fla., Bernadette Marie (Tony) Hazzard of East Greenbush, NY., Daniel Kevin (Erin) Brunner of north Greenbush, NY., and Carrie Lynn (Jason) Coffey of Albany, NY. Also survived by 11 great grandchildren; Brittany and Sarah Hazzard, Jessica, Danielle and Cameron Brunner, Kayle Mosall, Madison and Ava Brunner, Alexis, Emily and Melanie Coffey.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will truly be missed by all. We all wish you a safe journey, great poppy and finally you can be re-united with our beloved nanny, who you have missed since November 6, 1992.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 9:00am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX. Memorial contributions may be made to the Northville Firemen's Association P.O. BOX 756, Northville, New York 12134.
