COLONIE – Joseph A. Staknis, 73, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at the Albany Memorial Hospital.
Joseph was born on March 19, 1935 in Amsterdam and was the son of the late Andrew and Lucy (Auciunas) Staknis. He served in the US Army from 1957 to 1959. He worked for Philip Morris, Inc. as a sales rep before retiring in 1994. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
Joseph was a donor to the Anatomical Gift Program at the Albany Medical College.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Frances V. (Bachosz) Staknis; his daughter, Margaret A. Strong of Cockeysville, MD.; his son, David J. (Meg) Staknis of Bedford, MA; his grandsons, Alex J. Strong and James A. Staknis; his sister, Christina Leonard of Reseda, CA and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant son and a sister, Valeria Wilson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at St. Clare's Church in Colonie. All are welcomed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joseph's name may be made to the charity of one's choice.
