Joseph James Apuzzi, passed away on December 8, 2022, after just celebrating his 87th birthday with his family a few days prior.
Joe, as he was known, was loved and respected by all who knew him.
Born in NYC in 1935 Joe met his future wife Ann on Northern Boulevard in Queens and went on to raise a family while traveling all over the United States for work in the Aerospace Industry. Ann passed away in 2009. He is survived by his long-time partner, Darci Sprague.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Christine (Rob) Bruck in 2011. He is survived by his sons Joseph (Sue), Jerry (MariAnne) and Anthony (Christi Beaury) and his loving grandchildren Joseph, Jacob, Owen, Nicholas, Justin, Liam, Grace and Stella and his great grandchildren Jacob Jr., Amelia and Joseph.
Joe was the ultimate giver and volunteer. He never asked for help but always offered. In addition to proudly serving his country in the United States Marines, he volunteered for the Woodstock Fire Department, Habitat for Humanity, the American Red Cross, Equinox and St. John and St. Ann's Community Center soup kitchen (where he was known to all as "Coffee Joe").
The family would like to thank the staff at the Albany Veterans Administration Hospital for their hard work and support.
A remembrance of Joe's life will take place at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, New York 12189 on Saturday, December 17, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 4pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations in Joe's memory to be made to the St. John and St. Ann's Outreach Center (sjsacenter.org).
