Joseph P. Brozowski

1958 — 2025

Joseph Peter Brozowski, 66, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on January 31, 2025 after a long battle with cancer. Joseph was born in Albany, NY, on October 24, 1958 to the late Anthony J. and Agnes (Wark) Brozowski. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Doris (Ginter) Brozowski, son Andrew Brozowski and wife Erin Kane, and son Craig Brozowski and wife Leanna (Femia) Brozowski. He is also survived by half brother Lenny (Linda) Tanski, sister Diane (Ron) Dockter, and brother Tony (Faye) Brozowski, along with many cousins, 25 nieces and nephews, 25 grandnieces and grandnephews, and 1 great-grandniece.

Joseph was a 1976 graduate of Cardinal McCloskey, and attended the grade school at Saint Casimir. He was a dedicated bowler and softball player for over 40 years. He was a passionate sports fan of the Boston Red Sox, Minnesota Vikings, and the New York Rangers. He worked over 3 years for Simmons Machine Tool in Menands, was the first employee of Whiting Enterprises, worked 25 years for the NYS Department of State, and nearly 8 more years for the NYSIT before retiring in 2022. He was a member of the Albany Polish American Citizen Club, the Hruku Hellraisers, the International Polka Association, and the Watervliet Colonie Elks Club #1500. Joe was a frequent fill-in host on the Polka Spotlight Show on WVCR 88.3 The Saint on Sunday mornings, most notably providing trivia questions about the Super Bowl every year. He co-hosted a public access show “Sports Quiz” on local T.V. in the 80’s. Joe Bro, as his friends knew him, was a trivia whiz especially when it came to the topics of sports, music, and history. Since youth he enjoyed collecting and reading comic books, a hobby which he passed on and shared with his two sons and extended family. He enjoyed listening to polka music, golfing in retirement, and coaching many youth sports teams. He was involved in many fantasy football, baseball, and NASCAR leagues. The longest he participated in was the Empire Rotisserie League which began in 1986.

Joe was very family oriented, always making sure he was present at games, gatherings, and all of the big life events. He had a wonderful sense of humor and quick wit that always sent everyone home with a smile, laugh, and fond memories. He will be deeply missed, but his impact and memory will be present at every future family occasion.

Joe was involved in many youth sports, including coaching little league baseball, filming for the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk football team, and volunteering at many basketball and baseball camps throughout the years. In lieu of flowers, Joe asked that you help support a local youth sports group in his memory.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm with a Time of Sharing Service to begin at 6:30pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie NY 12205.
