COLONIE - Joseph Burke Foland, 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at his home with his family by his side.
Burke was born on November 11, 1937 in Albany and was the son of the late Henry Norman and Dorothy Mae (Biedorf) Foland. Burke was born again in August 1985, when he believed and received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and Lord (John 3:1-21).
Burke first worked for New York Central Railroad as a breakman, then was a mail carrier for the USPS, and also worked for the Tobin Packing Company and The Desmond. He then founded Loudon Locksmith Service, Inc. from which he retired. He enjoyed hunting, boating, and boxing and was an avid fan of the NY Yankees. He will be remembered for his thoughtfulness and generosity.
Burke is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Frances Rosano Foland; his loving children, Lisa (Paul) Kot, Christopher L. Foland, Gregory J. (Kristel) Foland and the late James J. Foland; his cherished grandchildren, Dustin (Aimee) Kot, Alyssa McManus, Alexander Foland, and Dillon Foland; his precious great grandchildren, Reilly and Lila Kot; brother of John Allen and the late Richard N. Foland and Jeanne M. Johnson and uncle to many nieces and nephews, especially his nephew, Joe Rosano. He is also survived by dear friends Pastors, Robert and Barbara Hulett, Patty and Danny Coyle and his church family at the House of Praise Church in Castleton. He was also predeceased by his uncle, Walter Foland and his best Bro, John Vincent.
The family would like to extend their gratitude and thanks to Dr. Stefan Swicker and his nurse Elizabeth Beck for the care they gave to Burke.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment, Our lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie.
