Local legend Boom Boom Brannigan passed away peacefully on October 19, 2010 at St. Peter's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born Joseph Charles Motto in Utica New York, Boom Boom was a tower of talent; an icon on the radio airwaves in upstate New York for 50 years. We all remember fondly Boom Boom's consummate showmanship and crowd-pleasing style on the radio, at record hops, talent shows, and all of his personal appearances. He performed with the biggest talents, yet his greatest joy was connecting with his Albany audience.
Boom Boom always said that he never worked a day in his life because he loved his job so much.
Shine on brightly - Boomer – your talent will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his five children; Victor (Loretta) Motto, Dawn (Graham) Motto-Binette, Richard (Lisa) Motto, Keeley Motto and Joseph Motto Jr. He is the loving grandfather of; Nancy Ann, Kyle, Renee, Lauren, Carly and Geena; and is the cherished great-grandfather of Luke Eric.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Linda Slater formerly of Salem, NY.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
