Joseph Ciabotte, Sr.

June 14, 1917 — September 12, 2012

Joseph Ciabotte, 95, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 with his sons by his side. Joe was born in Scotia to the late Mary and Dominic Ciabotte. He proudly served in the United States Army; he worked in the Civil Corp of Engineers. He also worked on the Oregon Trail, the Navy Hornet and Boxer, fought forest fires in California, worked for the American Locomotive Company and with the City of Schenectady as a special police officer in central park. In addition to his parents Joe was predeceased by his wife, Gianni (Attanasio) Ciabotte and eight sisters and brothers.

Joe is survived by his three beloved sons, Joseph Jr., Gary and Mark Ciabotte. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank Joe and Agnes Gatta and Lenora Spinazola for all of the care, compassion and support given to Joe and his family during their time of need.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady County 1411 Union Street Schenectady, NY 12308.

Funeral services for Joe will be Tuesday at 8:30 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie then to St. John the Evangelist Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Interment will follow the Mass at St. Johns the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 to 8 for calling hours at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home.
