Joseph D. Appel

COLONIE-Joseph D. Appel, 84, passed away on January 1, 2014 at St. Peter's Community Hospice Inn. Joe was born in Colonie, NY the son of the late Agnes and William Appel. He retired in 1989 from Blue Cross of Northeastern NY. Joe was also a school monitor for the South Colonie School District.
Joe is survived by his wife of 47 years Lorene (Anderson) Appel; his son Christopher Appel and his grandchildren Riley Appel and Carlos Appel.
In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his brother William "Bud" Appel and by his sisters Florence McIntyre and Dorothy Marr.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Monday, January 6, 2014 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville.
Interment will be at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Heart, Kidney, Cancer or Diabetes Association in memory of Joseph.
