Joseph Futia

GUILDERLAND- Joseph D. Futia, 87, of Guilderland, passed away on Wednesday October 19, 2005 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family by his side. He fought a short and courageous battle with cancer.
Joe was born January 2, 1918 in Reggio, Calabria Italy and was the son of the late Frank and Francesca Ferreri Futia. He came to the United States at the age of 17 and has been an Albany area resident for many years. Joe worked for Laborers Local 190, Williams Press and retired from the New York State Office of General Services. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his loving family.
He is the loving husband of 63 years to Mary Speziale Futia. He is the devoted father of Frances Tubbs (Fred Clark) of North Greenbush, Frank (Deborah) Futia and Joseph (Colleen) Futia of Albany. He is the loving brother of Mona Coluccio (late Luigi), Michael Futia (Rose) of Albany and the late Maria Lizzi (Francesco), Salvatore Futia (Philomena) and Dominick Futia (late Rose).He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be Monday morning at 8:15 at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave) then to St. Margaret Mary Church at 9:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
