Joseph Henry Lajoy, Sr.

d. October 10, 2009

ALBANY- Joseph Henry LaJoy Sr., 66, of Albany, died on Saturday October 10, 2009 with his loving wife Linda by his side, after a long illness.
He was born in Ticonderoga on September 21, 1943 and was the son of the late Napoleon and Beatrice Desormier and the stepson of the late Everett Hallenbeck. Joe was the first director of the Albany Parking Authority and also worked for Accutime and currently with AVPort at the Albany International Airport. Joe enjoyed working along with his son Keith on his 1923 T-Bucket hot rod and entered it into many cars shows. He won numerous awards for his outstanding and meticulous detail on his car. He also enjoyed dancing with his wife, building his train set, playing the organ, listening to country music and spending time with his loving family. He was an inspiration to all of us who knew as we watched him fight through his illness. It was his toughness that gave us the extra time to tell him how much we loved him.
He was predeceased by his sister Marilyn DiNatale, his brothers Paul and William LaJoy and his grandson James Richard LaJoy. The family would like to thank Alice Baker form Community Hospice for all of her help and support over the last few months.
Joe is survived by his wife of 38 years, Linda Shultis LaJoy; five children, Joseph (Donna) LaJoy Jr., Mark LaJoy, Keith LaJoy, Richard (Theresa) LaJoy and Rene LaJoy-Voris. He is the beloved grandfather of April, Jessica, Amanda, Joey III, Angelina LaJoy, Jonathan Brush, K.J. LaJoy, Kailyn Clancy, Matthew, Jordan and Michael LaJoy, David, Joseph, and Eric Bradt and his new kitten, Joe. He is the brother of Ronald (Doreen) LaJoy and stepbrother of Doris Hallenbeck. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
