GUILDERLAND-Joseph P. Higgins, 82, of Guilderland, passed away on Monday March 19, 2007 at Ellis Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Cohoes, and was the son of the late William and Mary Frances Smith Higgins.
Joe was WWII Army veteran. He was a former detective with Cohoes Police Department. Joe was a gifted photographer and served in many capacities throughout the Capital Region. His career included jobs as a staff photographer at the Times Union, New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, and the Rockefeller Administration . Joe is the longest practicing private investigator in the state and has worked with many attorneys in forensic investigations. He has been a longtime colleague of the Guilderland Police Dept.
Joe was an accomplished archer and was a nine time Sr. Olympic champion. He raised championship beagles and enjoyed hunting with his friends. He was lead guitarist and vocalist with his band Country Joe Review. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Karen E. Keefer Higgins and his brothers William and Leo Higgins.
He is the beloved father of Emilie Mary Caroline Higgins of Guilderland and Marsha (Patrick ) Livecchi of Willow Spring, NC; Grandfather of Tara Bennett and Brian Livecchi. Great grandfather of Michael, Jake and Josh Livecchi and Abigail Bennett. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday morning at 9:00 at St. Boniface Episcopal Church. Guilderland. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
