SCHENECTADY – Joseph J. Chiachiaretta, 93, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Joseph was born on March 6, 1917 in Schenectady and was the son of the late Frank and Marie (Constantino) Chiachiaretta. He was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and served in the US Army during WWII. He worked as a crane operator for General Electric for over 25 years before retiring in 1979. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, member and Past Commander of the DAV Chapter 88, lifetime member of VFW #1895 and was a volunteer at the Stratton VA Medical Center. He loved bowling, fishing and golfing.
Joseph is survived by his devoted wife, Frances (Pietrzak) Chiachiaretta; his son, Joseph (Brenda) Chicaretta; his sisters, Angie DiNicola of Pittsfield, MA and Philomena Adkinson of Starke, FL; his grandchildren, Diana Chiachiaretta and Rachel and Robert Noisseau. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary DiNicola and his brothers, Leon, Roger and John Chiachiaretta.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, then to Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 210 Princetown Rd., Rotterdam, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Schenectady. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
