COLONIE – Joseph J. De Mercurio, 97, of Colonie, passed away on Wednesday October 31, 2007 at Schuyler Ridge Residential & Health Center after a brief illness. He was born in Ft. Lee, NJ and was the son of the late Saverio and Marie Russo De Mercurio.
Joe was predeceased by his wife, Alice Reichert, his daughter Genevieve Lucarelli and his eight brothers. He was a well respected carpenter and a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 370 in Albany. Joe worked tirelessly with the building projects at the Empire State Plaza, American Little League and West Albany Babe Ruth. He was an avid bowler for 68 years. Joe enjoyed fishing, golfing, camping and gardening. He was a distinguished, fifty one member of the West Albany Volunteer fire Dept. #1.
He is the cherished father of Marie (Joseph) Goliber of Potsdam, Nancy (late William) Comiskey of Troy and Joseph (Judy) De Mercurio of Colonie. He is the father in law of Albert Lucarelli of Colonie. He is the brother of Nancy Panuccio of Queens, NY.
He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 9:30 at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave) then to Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:30 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorys Garden.
