Joseph John Keleher, Jr., 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peters, surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born in Albany to the Late Joseph and Mary Keleher. Joe proudly served with the United States Navy during WWII. He was a printer for the Knickerbocker News and then with the Times Union until his retirement. Joe loved gardening, history, reading and spending time with his family.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of over 63 years, Dorothea "Dottie" (Dudley) Keleher; his son, John (Sandra) Keleher; his daughter, Eileen Keleher; his grandchildren, Jason (Stacey) and Justin (Michelle); his great grandchildren, Tarynn and Sidney and his beloved sister, Jean (Frank) Craig.
The family would like to thank the entire staff with the Hospice Inn and to the ICU department at St. Peters for all of their wonderful care given to Joe.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 9:30 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie and then to Christ Our Light Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Interment will follow the Mass at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Albany County, 445 New Karner Road, Albany New York, 12205 in Joe's memory.
