TROY/FORT JOHNSON----Joseph Alfred Elie Joubert passed away peacefully on October 12, 2020.
He is the son of Alfred and Cecile Joubert on May 3, 1944 at Odanak Indian Reservation, Provence of Quebec, Canada. He was raised in both Odanak and Troy, N.Y.
Served 20 years Active Navy. Retired in 1983 at the rank of Command Master Chief Petty Officer. Among his many citations, he was proudest of the Naval Achievement Award.
He received an Associate in Arts Degree from Hartford University. He was proud of his Native Heritage ALN8BAL8MO: A Native Voice, A Language Keeper.
Among his many talents, he was a published author for the Language of Basket Making as well as the First Council Fire. Both written in the Abenaki Language. He made his own Native Regalia and Beadwork and was extremely proud of his service to both his Country and his Native People.
He is survived by two daughters: Tina Pafundi (Michael) and Terry Murray (Charlie); granddaughter, Elizabeth Derenzo; sister, Joyce Hamel (Jerry); plus nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Deborah Ann Joubert.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his graveside service with full military honors on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 12 Noon at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871. Masks are required and social distancing is to be observed.
