SCHENECTADY – Joseph M. Petramale, 62, peacefully surrendered himself into the arms of his Savior, Jesus, on Monday, December 14, 2009, at the Baptist Nursing Home in Scotia.
Joseph was born on December 18, 1946 in Albany and was the son of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Pagano) Petramale Sr. He served in the US Army during Vietnam and was a Bronze Star recipient. He worked as a postal clerk for the USPS at the Karner Road office in Colonie. He retired in 2007 after 18 years of service. He had a strong work ethic and received an award for outstanding service at the USPS. He was a real sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching his son's sporting events. He was a man of deep faith who fearlessly shared Jesus with others without regard for people's reactions or consequences. He was a born again Christian and a devout Roman Catholic and member of Immaculate Conception Church.
Joseph was an unconditionally loving husband of 27 years and best friend to his wife, Joan M. (Mirabile) Petramale and a very devoted and proud dad and grandfather to his 3 sons, Joseph, Michael and Colin Petramale and his grandson, Dominic Joseph Petramale. He is also survived by his brother, Albert Petramale Jr., one niece and two nephews. He taught us all how to live the way of humility and to carry our "custom fitted" cross with joy and total acceptance.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, 520 Bradt St., Schenectady. Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-South of Central Ave.) on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Interment will take place at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to City Mission of Schenectady, P.O. Box 760, Schenectady, NY 12301 in memory of Joseph M. Petramale.
