Port Charlotte, FL - Joseph Norbert Clough peacefully went to his heavenly home on May 17, 2012. He was 91. Mr. Clough, the son of Joseph Henry and Blanche Hull Clough, was born on January 5, 1921 in Pitcher, New York; the youngest of their six children. Mr. Clough was preceded in death by his precious wife of 61 years, Dorothy Jeanne Hughes Clough, (December 2003), and is survived by his devoted daughter and her husband, Gail Ann and James A. Alcott of Glenmoore, PA, his loving son and his wife, Gary Edward and Kathleen Lennon Clough of Cambridge, MD, three dear grandchildren, Julie Lennon Griffin and her husband Sean Griffin of Kingston, NY, Lt. Cmdr. Gavin Hughes Clough, USS Princeton, San Diego, CA, Catherine Elizabeth Clough, Buffalo, NY, and three beloved great-grandchildren, who lovingly called him "Pop-Pop the Great," Michael Patrick Griffin, Liam Conor Griffin, and Maeve Anne Griffin. Mr. Clough was the dearest brother of Ms. Ruth Clough of Cortland, New York, and the late Ralph Clough, Beulah Baldwin, Mary Jones, Kenneth Clough; and to Rodney and the late Richard Auwarter, children of family friends who were raised with him as brothers. Many nieces and nephews also survive Mr. Clough.
During WWII Mr. Clough served on the Pacific island of Ulithi for the United States Navy.
Mr. Clough leaves his dearest friend and loving companion, Betty Honisko, of Port Charlotte, and many devoted friends. He especially enjoyed and appreciated the close friendship of his longtime colleague, Fred Indermauer and his wife Bobbi, former Colonie and Port Charlotte neighbors, Bob and Nancy Case, Joe and Mary Lowery, Bob and Mary Sanford, Keith and Donna Waltz, and many others.
Friends and family are invited to call at the New Comer Cannon Funeral Home 343 New Karner Road, Colonie on Saturday May 26 from 1-2 pm. A Memorial Service will follow with interment at Memory Gardens.
