Slingerlands- Joseph P. Arnaboldi, 85, passed away at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy on Sunday, June 18, 2006. Born on December 2, 1920, in Hoboken, NJ and raised in Port Jefferson, LI, he was the son of the late Joseph and Gladys Arnaboldi. Joseph was a graduate of Cornell University and received his degree in Veterinary Medicine. He served his country as a Captain in the U.S. Army during WWII. He went on to practice Veterinary Medicine in Port Jefferson for 35 years at the Port Jefferson Animal Hospital. Joseph was a member of the Rotary Club for over 50 years, serving as past President of Port Jefferson Rotary Club, past District Governor of Long Island, and also serving on the Cultural Exchange Program in Japan. He was the founder of the Local Toastmasters Club in Port Jefferson. Joseph was an Ordained Minister of the Bethel AME Church and was also a missionary in the Haiti Christian Veterinary Service.
Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Mary Arnaboldi, his two sons Allan Arnaboldi and Loren Arnaboldi, and his daughter Sally Jo Waterfall. He is also survived by four granddaughters, Dana Mahoney, Gina Cavalieri, Larissa Arnaboldi and Gillian Arnaboldi, and two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Mahoney and Cate Mahoney.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 4:00 PM at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center, 2256 Burdett Ave., Troy, NY 12180 in memory of Joseph P. Arnaboldi.
