Joseph P. Jones

SCHENECTADY, NY – Joseph P. Jones, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2008 at his home, with his wife by his side. He was born in Schenectady on September 13, 1932 and was the son of the late Elmer and Mary Anne Jones. Joe was a graduate of Schenectady High School. Mr. Jones worked as superintendent at Summit Towers Senior High-rise and more recently as superintendent of Southgate Apartments, retiring in 1994. Joe enjoyed spending summers at camp on Mariaville Lake fly tying and fishing. Joe is the beloved husband of Joan F. Jones who he married on May 16, 1981. He is the stepfather of Debra Pink and her husband, Timothy. Joe is the cherished brother of Marion Miller and her husband, Clifford, Lillian Brassard, Ida "Candee" DiCaprio and John Jones. He is the half-brother of Esther Ratynski. Joe is the cherished grandfather of Sherri Famiano, Tami Pink and Timothy Pink and great-grandfather of Brett Torelli, Deangelene Famiano and RickiLynn Famiano. He is the brother-in-law of Linda Howarth. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his brothers, Martin and Matthew Jones and his half-brother, Raymond Force.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Schenectady. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308 in memory of Joseph P. Jones.
