Joseph F. Smith Sr.

October 31, 1940 — August 11, 2022

Clifton Park- Joseph F. Smith Sr., 81, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, August 11, 2022. Born in Granville, NY he was the son of the late Lillian and Francis Smith. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Patricia A. (Griffin) Smith.

Joseph was a proud veteran serving in the United States Navy. Joe worked for General Electric, retiring in 1995 at the age of 55. Following his retirement,
Joe continued to focus on his love of horticulture. Joe enjoyed music and was a member of the Electric City Chorus, The New Messengers Gospel Quartet and Homespun Harmony Quartet. Above all, Joe was a proud father, grandfather and great grandfather. Joe was a communicant of St. Luke's Catholic Church for 38 years where he and his wife sang in the choir.

Joe, also known as, Dad, Poppie, Pops, Joey, Smitty, Daddeo, Daddy-Waddy (DW), Buddy and Pal was a quiet man. Unless of course the Red Sox or Giants were losing or made a bad play. Joe was loud and passionate about his favorite teams.
Joe had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor, no one left his presence without having had a good laugh or chuckle.
Joe was a peaceful man and had a love for people and animals, especially dogs. Dogs loved him and could just sense his good nature.
Joe was a good listener but knew when it was important to speak. If he spoke up, you listened because you knew it was important and perhaps profound.
Joe was a gentleman in every sense of the word, a gentle soul with such an easy way about him. Joe made people feel comfortable, drawing them in with his kindness, humor and humility.

In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his children Colleen Smith, Christine Smith, Joseph Smith Jr. (Jolee) and Patrick Smith (Jaclyn). He was the loving "Grampster" to Tyler Wells (Kristina), Jess Smith (Noah), Patrick Smith, Jillian Smith and Great "Grampster" to Paisley Wells. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Joe is predeceased by his siblings, William Smith, Gordon Smith, George Smith, Evelyn Caggiano and Gert Dedrick.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all the nurses from Saratoga County Hospice for the love and care given to Joe and his family.
