COLONIE- Joseph T. Day, 82, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Thursday May 1, 2008 at the Inn of Community Hospice after a brief illness. He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Day.
Joe served his country during WWII with the US Army. He was the head mechanic at the former Capital Buick in Albany for 25 years. Joe retired in 1988 from the Albany County Airport as Fleet Maintenance Supervisor. He was an avid fan of Army Football and a member of the Colonie Elks. He was predeceased by his wife Rita in 2003.
He is the beloved father of Joseph H. Day (Patricia) of Clifton Park and Diane Coyle (Richard) of Loudonville. He is the grandfather of Joseph P. Day, Casey Green (Brian), Adrienne, Alexis and Alexandra Coyle. He is the brother of the late John Day and brother in law of Miriam Oliveri.
Funeral services will be Monday morning at 8:15 at Newcomer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave) then to St. Francis de Sales Church 1 Maria Drive. Loudonville at 9:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3 to 6 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd. Albany NY 12205 in memory of Joseph T. Day.
