Guilderland - Joseph Tegiacchi, 82, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the Williams Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, Florida. Joseph was born November 14, 1931 to Virgilio and Mary (Patricia) Tegiacchi, in Rotterdam with older twin sisters and a younger brother. He attended Draper High School.
Joseph served 3 years beginning in 1951 as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army in Korea. His trade was a Bricklayer until his retirement in 1993 and was a 50 year member of Local Number 2, Albany Chapter and International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen. Joseph was a member of the Guilderland Center Volunteer Fire Department and a life time member of the V.F.W Post 7062 Altamont and a member of the 5th Infantry Regiment Association. He was a member of the Albany Elks Lodge #49 and loving the outdoors was a long time member of the Empire Beagle Club. Joseph resided with his wife in Guilderland and in the winter months Vero Beach, Florida.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ann Marie (Race); his daughter, Donna Wright, two sons Joseph R Tegiacchi and Nicholas (Lisa) Tegiacchi; three Grandchildren, Brian (Bethany) Wright, Stephanie Wright and Jillian Tegiacchi. He is the brother of Mary Tegiacchi and the late Louisa DeMasi and Virgilio Tegiacchi. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday morning at 9:00 at Saint Matthew's Church, Voorheesville. Burial will follow at St. Cyril & Method Cemetery in Rotterdam. Family will greet friends on Sunday from 3 to 6 pm at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie. At the request of family, memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, 370 7th Avenue, Suite 1802, New York, NY 10001 in memory of Joseph Tegiacchi.
