Albany-Joseph Paul Tuohey passed away at St. Peter's Hospital on November 30, 2018 at the age of 87.
He was born and raised in Albany where he attended high school followed by proud service in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Siena College, Joe obtained his Master's Degree from Purdue University. Joe was a lifelong educator, first at Siena College and then at Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School where he taught English until his retirement in1994. Joe loved the outdoors, tennis, running, hiking, and football. Joe's artistic talents included drawing and wood carving. He was also a musician and enjoyed playing the banjo, fiddle, and harmonica.
He is survived by his five daughters who he affectionately referred to as his rose garden; Patti Duff (Tom) of Loudonville, NY, Jacqui Conlin of Albany, NY, Cathy Sousa (David) of Milford, NJ; Christine Celestino of Northville, NY; Melissa Tuohey (Brian) of Clay, NY; his seven grandchildren, Megan, Thomas, Julia, David, Angela, Jordan, and Stephen.
He was predeceased by his parents, Hugh and Sarah (Martin) Tuohey; and his two brothers, John and Hugh Tuohey.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, December 9th from 12-2 p.m. with a service following at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY.
