Joseph Vumbaca

December 16, 1935 — December 16, 2023

Colonie-Joseph (Giuseppe) Vumbaca, passed away peacefully on his 88th birthday, December 16th,
2023, at home surrounded by his loving family. Joseph was born December 16th, 1935 in
Calabria, Italy the son of the late Antonio and Pasqualina (Cessario) Vumbaca. Joseph migrated
to Canada when he was 17 to be with his brother and would later move to New York and
establish a construction career and settle down with his growing family.

Joseph believed in hard work, he never stopped moving. He would go out walking everyday, he
was an avid gardener, and an exceptional cook. All who experienced his garden or cooking
knew how impressive he was. More than just his talents, Joseph was an all around amazing
father to his three girls, and transformed into his most adored role as Nonno. He would do
anything for his girls. Joseph made it a point to get all his children and their families together,
whether he was cooking or treating his family to dinner, or most fondly his love for the annual
family apple picking trip. He loved being all together, but especially loved watching and being
present for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joseph is survived by his three children, Patricia (James) Dott, Palma (David) Loudis,
Josephine (Montassar) AbdelMomen. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren;
Siblings; Michelangelo Vumbaca and Natale Vumbaca , Antonio Vumbaca; and predeceased by the late,
Giorgio, Francesco Vumbaca, and Rosina Circosta.

Services for Joseph will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The
Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Rd. Albany, NY 12205 in honor of Joseph.
