Josephine Bonificio

Colonie - Josephine Mary Sardisco Bonificio, 89, passed away on January 8, 2017. Josephine was born on August 22, 1927 in NYC and moved to Albany when she was 3 years old. She was the daughter of the late Anthony Sardisco and Mary (DiDio) Sardisco Pagliccia. Josie was the wife of 35 years to the late Albert Joseph (Riggi) Bonificio, Sr.

Josie was an active life member of Midway Fire Department and Colonie Village Fire Company, the Colonie Elks, HB Kuhn Senior Citizen and the Heart Senior Citizens Groups. She belonged to St. Clare's Catholic Church for 50 + years. Josie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and she will be greatly missed by all.

Josie is the devoted Mother of Clement (Chris), Anthony (Joan) and Albert (Barbara) Bonificio. She is the cherished grandmother of eight grandchildren and twelve great grand-children. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Josie is predeceased by her sister, Agnes C. Garrison and her brother, Dominick Sardisco.

The family would like to express their special gratitude to the staff of Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility for their care and kindness during her stay.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Josephine's memory to the Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, 4988 State Highway 30, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funerals and Cremations, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, on Thursday, January 12, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 13, at 11:00 am at St. Clare's Church, Colonie. Interment will immediately follow at Memory Gardens.
