Josephine P. "Josie" Sobiecki Maloney, 95 wife of the late Robert J Maloney, of Palm Bay, FL, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on June 29, 2023.
Born on February 8, 1928 in Albany, NY, Josie was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Stefankiewicz Sobiecki.
Josephine enjoyed traveling and was always up for a road trip to visit beloved family and friends wherever they were. Josie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1450 and she and her husband would visit the different Legion Posts when they traveled. She also loved reading, especially anything by John Grisham.
While living in Albany, Josie was employed by Tobin Packing Co, retiring in 1974. Upon moving to Saratoga, Josie and her husband opened a small neighborhood grocery store, J & B Grocery on Saratoga Lake where many friendships were formed with both the full time and summer residents. Once totally embracing retirement, Josie joined the Seniors group in Malta and a walking group where her traveling adventures continued.
In addition to her husband Robert, she was predeceased by her brother John Sobiecki, and sisters Stasia Ruchel, Sophie House, Betty Novak and Anne Marie Sobiecki.
Josephine is survived by her daughter, Linda Maciong and son-in-law Michael, her much loved grandchildren Michael, Jessica and Robert and her beloved great grandchildren Hunter Lawyer, Drew Crimmel, Ava Maciong, Devlin Maciong-Crimmel, and Luca Harrington,as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call, Wednesday August 23rd from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, with a service to immediately follow at 7PM.
