Josephine "Jo Jo" Spano, 71, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2014 after a courageous battle of 9 years with cancer, en route home with her husband by her side. She was born in Albany to the late Vincent and Lucy Tricomi.
Josephine was an avid bowler, loved to dance, play bingo and was a loving, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her siblings, Bridget Tricomi, Mario Tricomi, Marguerite Martello, Frank Tricomi and her dear friend JoAnn Bieber.
Josephine is survived by her beloved husband of over 33 years, Dominic Spano; her cherished children, Sharon Myers and John Myers. She is the adored grandmother of Nicole Morse, Michael and Jon-Michael Myers and the great grandmother of Gabriela Myers. Josephine is the sister of Marie Kavanaugh and Vincent Tricomi. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Genaro Daniels, NY; her primary care doctor, Dr. Theodore Zeltner, Dr. Philip Shields, Fl., Dr. Michael Kolodziej (formerly with NYOH). Dr. Lisette Delgado Sanchez, Fl., and Dr. Andrew Lippman, Fl. for all of the care and compassion given to Jo Jo.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in Josephine's memory.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 10:30 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, Central Ave. , Albany. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
