Josephine Wasserbach

November 29, 1941 — April 19, 2025

Guilderland

Josephine Wasserbach, 83, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 19th, 2025, surrounded by the family who loved her deeply. She had been living with Alzheimer’s for many years, and faced each day of her illness with quiet strength and grace.

Born in Albany, NY, to Lucy and Frank Cuoccio. Josephine graduated from Cardinal McCloskey Memorial High School. On March 24th, 1962, Josephine married Paul Wasserbach. They shared 63 wonderful years. Together they raised six children, and Josephine poured her heart into motherhood.

As her children grew, Josephine entered the workforce and built a fulfilling career. Josephine got her real estate license and worked for Tom King Realty for many years. She also worked at SEFCU and For Sale By Owner. Josephine and Paul especially treasured their winters spent in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Those sunny months by the ocean brought them peace and joy—walking the beach and making lifelong friends. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family. Josephine loved to cook meals that brought everyone together around the table. She found joy in gardening, exercising and playing card games.

She is survived by her devoted husband Paul; her six children—Paul (Chrissy), Kurt, Lisa DePalo (Andy), Eric (Sarah), Jane Balander (Rob), and Gretchen Finch (Darren); and her beloved grandchildren, Sara, Lauren, and Jack. She is also survived by her brother, Joe Cuoccio (Rosemary), and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her dear sister, Mary Notaro.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Josephine’s nurse, Tammy, for the gentle and loving care she provided during Josephine’s final years.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday April 23rd from 9am-11am with a Mass following at 11am at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumter Ave Albany.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Josephine’s memory to Community Hospice at communityhospice.org or by mail to 310 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
