COLONIE - Joyce Boehlke, 92, passed away peacefully June 16, 2012 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital of pancreatic cancer. Born in Peterborough, Northamptonshire, United Kingdom (England) on January 23, 1920. She was the youngest of 7 siblings of Charles Richard Fear and Kate (Jackson) Fear.
Joyce was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Louis D. Boehlke and her beloved daughter Gail Ann Boehlke (Salvatore) Cristello.
She is survived by her son R. Richard (Pamela) Boehlke, stepson Chester D. (Sharon) Boehlke and stepdaughter Elizabeth R. (Richard) Boehlke Rutland. Joyce is survived by 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren plus many nieces and nephews.
Joyce arrived in the United States as a World War II war bride in 1946 and worked at Huyck Felt for a number of years. Besides being a stay at home mom, she also worked part time at Almart's Department Store in Colonie. Joyce and husband Lou retired to Lakeland, Florida in 1974, then returned to Colonie in October 2000 to be with family and friends. She was a member of Pinegrove United Methodist Church in Colonie.
The family would like to thank Alice, Diana, and Tess of Community Hospice and Victoria and the rest of the staff at The Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital for their dedication and caring. A special thanks to granddaughters' Teri (Boehlke) Blinke, Susan (Boehlke) Malinowski and Darcie Cristello for their many hours and overnights to see to Joyce's comfort.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 7:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Evergreen Memorial Park.
