JONESBORO, GA. – Joyce Chanell Prince, 71, passed away on September 21, 2011. Born in Albany on September 3, 1939, she was the daughter of Ernest Deaton and the late Elizabeth Kirkley.
Joyce worked for NYS Civil Service for twenty years. Her family will remember her as loving and always ready to help.
Joyce leaves to survive her son; Ronald Prince; daughters Cynthia Scott, Salena Brown (John), Samantha and Tonia Decuir (Victor); siblings Joan Griffin, James Prince, Ronald Perry (Gail), Deborah Crayon, Kevin Crayon, Kim Crayon, and Denise Kirkley-Cain; grandchildren Jamal Brown, Shaquanda Clow, Allen DeCuir, Crystal Winn, John Clow, Jessica Winn, Keyosha DeCuir, Torrin Mayben, and Jakia Mayben; Eight great-grandchildren and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive. Special to her was Essie Kirkley, Beatrice Myles-Davis, and Mary DiCarlo.
Along with her mother, she was predeceased by her son, John Mallory; daughter Torrie Mallory; brothers, Bruce Crayon, Wayne Crayon, and Keith Crayon (Ann); and her husband, Robert DeCuir.
A Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 12:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road Colonie, NY 12205. Calling hours are from 10:00 to 12:00 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Albany.
