NISKAYUNA – Joyce E. Gordon, 74, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Joyce was born on November 13, 1938 in Day, NY and was the daughter of the late Lester and Josie (Allen) Walker Sr. She was a seamstress for Tough Traveler in Schenectady for many years before retiring. She was an avid seamstress, enjoyed sewing, painting ceramics, going to garage sales, rides in the country, playing canasta, and her favorite country artist was Conway Twitty.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Paul Dworkin and Dr. Alan Conlon for all their long term dedication and care they gave to Joyce.
Joyce is survived by her loving children, Melissa (Wayne) Hildenbrandt and Elmer (Cheryl) Gordon III; her cherished grandchildren, Christopher and Kayla Hildenbrandt; her siblings, Myrtle Duell, Victoria Robinson, Lester Walker Jr. and Nelson Walker Sr.; her best friend, Joan "Mush" Cryer; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Elmer D. Gordon Jr.; her daughters, Bonnie and Valerie Gordon; and her siblings, Isla Ladd, Lela Duell, Floyd Walker Sr. and Leon Walker.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 9 to 11 a.m. Interment will follow the service at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Colonie.
