Colonie_Joyce Hughes, 86, of Schenectady, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2016.
She was born on December 9, 1929 to the late Aubrey and Jennie (Hubley) Selig in Lynn, MA, .
Joyce was a devoted wife, mother. She cherished her role as a grandmother and shared a very special bond with her grandchildren. She was a kind hearted and giving person with a great sense of humor. Joyce traveled between her two homes in Colonie and Nova Scotia where she leaves behind many friends and relatives. She will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege to know and love her.
Joyce is survived by her loving husband, James M. Hughes; children, David (Cindi Vaccaro) Zipkin, Michael (Lynn) Zipkin, Rhonda Granito; grandchildren, Brian Zipkin, Michael Zipkin, Maxine Granito, Ryan Granito, Evan Granito; sister, Elinor Roberts; brother, Clarence Selig; 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Zipkin and her sister Kay Fralic.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 18, 2016 from 3-5pm. A funeral service will be held at 5pm following visitation on Monday. Friends are invited to attend a reception to celebrate Joyce's life following services on Monday evening. Reception location will be available online at www.newcomeralbany.com.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 11am at Memory Garden's Cemetery.
