Albany- Joyce E. "AJ" Stockholm, 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 2, 1943 in Oneonta; a daughter of the late Horace and Leta Persons Cornish.
Joyce worked as a secretary for the NYS Office of Mental Health. She loved to birdwatch, doing crossword puzzles, playing bingo and PITCH. She loved to travel with the Thunder Road Seniors. Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend; she will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Joyce is predeceased by her husband, Wendell S. Stockholm; it was a loving union of 26 years until his passing in 2008
Survivors include her loving family, son, Douglas J. Winters; granddaughter, Morgan E. Winters; sisters, Jerri Houlihan (loving brother-in-law, Bob) and JoAnn Vass; brother, Howard I. Cornish. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Joyce was predeceased by her brother, Bernard L. Cornish; sisters, Jean Renwick, Esther Douglas and Verna John; her daughter-in-law, Susan L. Winters.
A funeral service for Joyce will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11am at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, 12205. Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017 from 4pm - 7pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Memory Gardens, Colonie.
