Troy -
Swanick, Joyce C., 89, wife of Robert F. Swanick passed away Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024, at Rosewood Rehabilitation Center in North Greenbush, NY, after a long illness with her love by her side.
Joyce was born July 10, 1934, the daughter of the late Thomas and Gertrude (Wendell) Cullen. Joyce was born and educated in Albany, NY.
Joyce graduated from Albany High School then to attend Oberlin College in Ohio. she then attended The College of St. Rose where she received her Master's Degree.
She taught early childhood as a kindergarten teacher in Tamarac elementary school this is where she met the love of her life
and best friend Robert.
She was active in the choir at St. John's Episcopal church in Troy. She loved and enjoyed her family, her grandchildren and vacations in Maine.
She is survived by her husband Robert of 65 years. Son Robert P. Swanick; daughters Kathleen L. Swanick and Carol Swanick-Clickner;
grandchildren Alyssa (Jordan) Caslin, Emily Swanick (Austen), Lily Swanick (Aaron), Christopher (Christie) Clickner, Courtney Clickner (Aaron) and Jonathan Clickner;
great grandchildren Isabella and Christopher Clickner Jr, Mila Figueroa; siblings Carolyn (Ronald) Fogarty, Paul (Barbara) Cullen and Kenneth Puphal
and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Joyce is predeceased by her daughter Karen Swanick; brother Robert Puphal; son-in-law Timothy Clickner.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, New York 12189 on Thursday, Jan. 11th from 4 - 7 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Jan 12th at 11am with a burial to immediately follow at Eagle Mills Cemetery, 550 Garfield Rd, Troy, NY.
