TROY- Juan Marrero, 88, passed away on Sunday December 4, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Bruno Marrero Rodriguez and Cruz Marrero Otero. After emigrating to New York State from Puerto Rico, Juan lived most of his life in Troy with his loving wife of 55 years, Carol Horton Marrero, before she passed away in 2013. He lost his joy when he lost her but continued to surround himself with his loving family.
Juan worked hard all his life providing for and supporting his family and retired as a machinist from the Allied Signal Corporation (formerly The Bendix Corporation) in Green Island. After being retired for a short time, he decided he was not ready for retirement and returned to work part-time as a parking lot attendant for The Troy Savings Bank. After retiring for the second time, he spent the rest of his time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved gardening, tinkering with any small appliance and working with his hands.
Juan is survived by his loving children: Shirley (Mark) Kepner, Bonita (Wayne) Moseley, Juan (Candy) Marrero, Lori (Todd) Frazier and Amy (Joe) Reheusser. Juan is the cherished grandfather of Mark (Don) Kepner-Clough, Jennifer (Dan) Kryzak, Juan (Kali) Marrero Jr. and Emma Frazier and the adored great grandfather of Makayla Kepner, Paisley, Wyatt and Weslyn Marrero and Jacob and Parker Kryzak. Juan also leaves behind many of his loving family members who remain in Puerto Rico. In addition to his parents and loving wife, Juan was predeceased by several of his brothers and sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Thursday December 8, 2022 from 4 to 7 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189. All are invited to attend his funeral service on Friday December 9, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy, NY.
